Dope Stars Inc released their new album today. And listen to this - they released it as a free download torrent! Forget about going to a store and buying a CD. Artists today are modernising and are happy if people hear their songs at all. They are making their money through gigs and selling merchandise instead.

I didn't know much about this band before. I had only heard a couple of songs on YouTube that I thought was great. But today I downloaded their new album Ultrawired and was BLOWN AWAY!

It's like a hit in the face with (as they say on their Facebook) cyberpunk rock for electro dandies, hardwired ladies, circuit heartbreakers and netrunners of the 21st Century.

Life as me

There's too much stuff going on in Sweden right now, don't have time to blog about it all!

I wonder where those bank robbers are right now... they robbed a bank in Flen two weeks ago and after shooting at the police and setting two cars on fire they disappeared (well yeah, I would too if I had a whole country of people looking for me!). It became a pretty big deal since me and my classmates were on our way to school. We have some classes in Eskilstuna which is close to Flen and this day we were going to present our second theme work. But halfway there we were stopped by the police and had to wait in a long line for 30 minutes. I can't say that we complained though, we just thought it was exciting and Jessica captured the moment for life when she took a picture of some very surprised cops...

Our presentation went so well! Our drama teacher came JUST to see our group, because we were going to do a couple of drama plays. She seemed proud of us afterwards and we were definitely proud of ourselves! The only thing that went a bit wrong was the "onion scene". One of the girls played the teacher and the others played kids. Our theme was "feelings" and the teacher was going to show the kids that you don't have to be sad just because you have tears in your eyes. You can get tears for other reasons as well, like if you peel and shop an onion! We hadn't rehearsed this scene before so we had no idea that the affect would be so intense. Jessica, Margarita and Lisa who played the kids were laughing and crying at the same time because their eyes stung so much! They screamed out their lines while the whole class, plus I, Susanne, Sofie and Sofia laughed until we couldn't breath, haha! Oh boy am I sad we didn't ask someone to film our presentation!

On our way home our bus had to stop in the middle of the road again. This time there were two fire trucks who had just packed away their stuff after taking care of a car accident. The fireman who was on his way to jump into the truck suddenly took off his jacket and revealed the hottest muscles on earth! What happens? Well, everyone on the upper floor of the bus (me and ten other girls) screamed out loud xD

*Oupps!* we suddenly went quiet, but he had already heard us and started waving and smiled! Haha, glad he took it so well :P we were pretty embarressed though!

Things in school are looking brighter for me. I'll soon have some more opportunities to write those failed exams again and I feel like I can pull them off this time. And hopefully I will.

This Wednesday we went to Eskilstuna on a water excursion! The weather sucked, cold and windy..

But 'Nature Nicke' was a great teacher and gave us so many excellent tips on how to make a walk in the forrest fun for the kids. And we also learned a lot about finding bugs in the sea...

Beautiful BlackRain...

Swan Hellion is on of my favourite rock singers. He together with Blackrain are one of the bands that are bringing the 80's back to life. So far they have released two albums with several great tracks and I will post some of my favourite songs here on my blog, one at a time. Take this opportunity to learn about a new kind of rock music that is on its way to greatness. This band is from France but they have become very popular here in Sweden. I hope they'll be back soon so that I can see them live!

Ryan Roxie and the good people of Blue Lemon Managment have put together a good ol´ fashioned Rock Conert called Summer Kick Off 2011. Even though the event isn't associated with the TV show Ryan's been hosting on Aftonbladet TV, it features two of the bands whose music is heard weekly on the show - Roxie77 & SpitChic. At the Summer Kick Off you will also get to see July, Ruh and Lizette perform!

Spoiled brat

I was completely spoiled with the good life yesterday. It's not often you get to enjoy a whole day without any negative things happening. I got up really early to go to Sala where Kiki lives with her family. The kids got to sit in big tractors, go horseback riding and pet reptiles... snakes and lizards. The snake was too creepy for me but I managed to touch the lizard, haha.
But the whole point of this trip was to see the farm release their cows. Every spring all of the farms in Sweden have events where people can come and wach the cows first steps out on the fields. Since they've been inside for the whole winter they have plenty of energy to jump around and play, which you don't get to see cows do very often ;) They were rolling around in the sand, creating a big dust cloud for us in the audience. And it was like watching the Disney movie "Ferdinand the bull" when the cows were fighting head to head. Pretty cool experience. I'd love to go and see this next year again, I understand why people make this a tradition!

After a long car drive home in the burning sun I was exhausted. But it wasn't like I could rest because we had relatives coming over. So I had to eat cookies and cakes (yeah tough work) and be social for the rest of the day. But it was nice too see my grandma and aunt :)

I've given up on finding a job for the summer since all of the applications are closed by now. But last night I got a job offer from a friend that sounds very interesting! I'm so excited about this so I really hope it works out! It would mean I'd be working for three days this summer and I'm just happy I'll have something to do. Sounds better then to just sit around trying to save money for any upcoming gigs.

So let's just say I had the best day ever and to top it all I ate a creemy cheese pie for dinner ;) Lucky me!

I'm so happy that Sweden made it to the ESC final!! 'Popular' was hardly one of my favourite songs in the Swedish line-up and I'm still not very fond of the lyrics. They don't make much sense. But the melody is great and Eric Saade is an amazing dancer, good looking, charming and stubborn as hell! Now I actually think we have a good chance of ending up in the top 5. Here I would LIKE to add a "considering how lousy all of the other artists are we'll probably win" but unfortunately some countries are fond of those crazy people jumping around is goofy cone hats and greek rappers...
Anyways, remember what happened a year ago when Eric was the presenter for Sweden's points in ESC? Teenage girls all around the world adored him and made facebook-fanpages in his honour. Just for those 30 seconds he was on air saying "12 points for Germany".

His performance was a real nail-biter though! He had told the press during the week that the rehearsals didn't go very well and that the glass cage didn't explode as it should. He said that if the German crew messed up his performance in live TV he would just stop singing, because then he would be allowed to do it all over again. So when the time came in his live routine to be locked into the cage I got pretty nervous. "What if it doesn't explode!? Poor guy, he will be so disapointed and humiliated". And what happens? It doesn't explode! And Eric bangs on the glas windows like he is pissed off. Me and my sister literally screamed out "NOOOOO!!!" hahaha... yeah, we got really into it :P
But the fourth window ends up breaking apart so that Eric can get out and finish the song. I bet most Swedes who were following the show felt the same thing.... confusion. Great performance, but did something go wrong? Later we were told that everything had gone just as it was supposed to. Thank God! But couldn't they have given us a warning before that they had changed the routine?? xD haha, it was freaking nerve wracking! I bet they will make all of the windows explode in the final though. They're just saving them so they'll have something extra to surprise everybody with.

Now let's kick some Eurovision-ass on Saturday!!!

Stockholmer?

Well what do you know, I'm so desperate to move to Stockholm that I've started looking for available jobs and apartments. Not in the middle of the city, but in suburbs close by. I wont move from Västerås until I've gotten my degree but it's still good to be prepared. The good thing about being a teacher is that I can get a job wherever I want. So when I'm finished with school I can move to Stockholm. The whole point of it is to be closer to where all the action is. The clubs in Västerås are boring and filled with 17 year olds who are cocky for getting in even though they are underage.

School has been difficult for me this spring, I've failed on so many exams that I am afraid to count them. But I'm making progress. This weekend I am working on a paper that I've failed on three times, but this time I feel great about it. Also, me and my group have finished our second project and we are damn proud of it! We gave ourselves a four day long weekend to relax, then we're going to rehears our 'speech' about it until Wednesday.

After finishing our project we hung out with Jessica's adorable daughter Alice. We jumped over every little thing, rolled around in the grass and probably annoyed lots of students close by, haha! ;)

Most parts of the ESC was boooring. But of course I managed to find two favourites :) What do you guys think of these songs? Personally I think they are really sweet!

We could be the same

Oh my God, can somebody please turn the sun off!? I liked it better when the weather was just right - not too hot and not too cold. And I don't complain during the winter, so I have every right to complain now ;) Although I have to admit it's pretty nice to not have to wear a winter coat that's the size of Brazil.

In honour of a tradition that's been going on since before I was born, I will watch the Eurovision Song Contest tonight. Even though the quality of the songs ain't as good as it used to be, I usually manage to find at least a couple of songs that I like. We'll see what country I pick as my favourite this time...

Homeless

As I've told you before we're working in groups in school right now. Everyone has chosen two subjects to write about. My group first did a project about cows and now we're doing another one about feelings. At the end of each project we tell our classmates about it. Every group had chosen interesting subjects the first time around, so it's going to be fun to see what they have come up with the second time. I'm so proud of the girls I'm working with! We've understood the whole point of these projects, which is to work in teams. But some other groups have been working a lot from home and on their own, which really isn't what I call team work. As teachers we will have to work in teams daily and try to get along with people we don't like. After all that me and my group have been through, we have finally found a great balance. While I hear that the groups who are working from home are still fighting about basic things. Even though it's tough to be in school 7 hours per day we're still gaining so much from it and can be proud of what we accomplish!

This song was made by some classmates who did a project about homeless people, and what we can do to help them. The song is in Swedish but still good to listen to. If you know any Swedes, then please share it! ;)

What food do I cook?
Oh man... food really isn't something I am passionated about. Baking on the other hand is a blast! There I can be creative with colours and shapes to make cakes and cookies look like fireworks. But food, spices and stuff like that isn't as exciting. So I'm one of those people who makes things easy for me in the kitchen. If someone have prepared it all for me (like the supplier) then great. Just throw it in the micro wave. Other then that I like pasta, rice with vegetarian schnitzel, crêpes.

This is my kind of fun. Sometimes I make a cake just so that I can decorate it!

Dirty Lashes

Since I have promised myself to not write too much about my day-to-day boring life in this blog, I'll fill these empty days with some great bands. The unknown ones that I'd love for you guys to discover!
Today I want to introduce you to Dirty Lashes! A swedish glam/sleaze band with catchy melodies and a powerful lead singer (just listen to that high note he takes at 3:00 in the video!!)
My favourite song is easily "Miss Beautyqueen". Dirty Lashes is unsigned so far but if they continue to release demos like these, they wont be unsigned for much longer.

Born to die free

I was there. At the fence. Right in front of Martin Sweet. And the night after in Stockholm I got to meet Peter London. I can't believe it. It's something about this band, can't put my finger on what it is. All I know is that I have the greatest amount of respect and love for them. Their inspiration will become a tattoo on me some day when I have the money. A lot of people get tattoos that they later regret. But I know I wont regret this one, because it is going to be about more then just the band. It's going to be about how they have changed my life.

LIPSTIXX N BULLETZ

I'm constantly looking for new rock bands to become a fan of! I'm especially weak for the glam/sleaze genre. There are so many great underground bands out there that most people unfortunately have never heard of. Thanks to my wonderful friends I keep getting recommendations to what I should listen to. The latest band I discovered was Lipstixx N Bulletz. It was just an hour ago but I'm already a fan.
Since they are a fairly new band I don't know much about their past, but I do know some great songs to recommend. So check em out!!

Big Rock Show Acoustic Night at Noels

Time to write about yet another one of my adventures! :)
I arrived in Stockholm on Saturday night and took a taxi to the hostel. Poor taxi driver hadn't been working there for more than a week so he asked ME how he should drive! Haha, uhhm? Well we finally got there so I could check-in.
I ended up staying in a room with a bunch of Americans that were travelling around the world. I spoke to one of them, a really nice guy named Jordan, and he told me they'd come from France and that they'd been in Sweden for three days. It was so funny hearing how they look at us Swedes. Apparantly we have a very unique "style" and everyone dresses the same. We don't copy other countries very much, we just create our own styles instead. I've never thought of Sweden that way, but maybe it's true?

I didn't have to leave immediately so I sat on my bed for a while and waited. I realised that travelling by yourself isn't as bad as a lot of people seem to think it is. You just need common sense. Don't trust anyone, but don't act like everyone are maniacs either. If you can't find your way then just ask someone on the street or the staff at the hostel. Make sure you have extra cash in case something happens and always think 'safety first' in whatever you do.

When I arrived at Noels I met Ryan, Anna and her parents. Great people. In fact, the whole place was packed with great people during the night! Everyone was in an awesome mood... dancing, joking and singing. We saw several artists and bands who all took turns performing. No one was forced up on the stage and still there was always something going on up there. Roxie 77 ended up playing three times or something, haha! Not that I'm complaining ;)

Me and Anna even got a song dedicated to us for our work with The Big Rock Show. We are more then happy to help because we're having a blast promoting it! But it feels good that it's appreciated :)

Before we went home we talked to the guys for a while (and Anton who had turned into Ozzy Osbourne thanks to a couple of beers, lol). I can't wait to see them again. I'll probably go back to Stockholm in the beginning of June. It's just a couple of episodes left of the web show and of course we've got to finnish it off with a big party!!

My parents
My mom and dad have lived together for over 20 years. They are good parents who do their best to not worry about things that other parents may be concerned about. They know that they can trust me and my sister. But still, even they can be too overwhelmed by their emotions and act as if me and my sister are still kids. I'm lucky to have parents who doesn't kick me out on the street just because I'm over 18. They know how difficult it is to pay back money to the state, so they rather let me live at home a couple of more years instead of forcing me to take a loan. So I can always count on them.
Although I wont say that my relationship with my parents is perfect. I'm a lot closer to my dad than to my mum.
But that's something I wont discuss in my blog.

Money is so easily spent

This tank top looked great on the website but nah... don't think it'll fit. Plus I gotta save my money for the summer. But I'll try it on anyway. Just so that I get to see that it don't fit. Then I can send it back. So here we go... oh, wow... look at that. It actually looks kinda good. I mean, it looks awesome. I don't wanna wear anything else in my life again. Damn, now I have to buy it.
