New topics

Today I have made some changes on my blog.
By changing the names on my topics I hope you'll find it easier to make your way around here. Click on the picture if the text is too small to read.

A moment in music history

My favourite performance of all time is the one that Guns N Roses did with Elton John at the MTV Video music awards in-92. It's not just about the fact that the guys made a great performance. It's about the feeling of it, the lyrics that I can relate to so much and the fact that this was just before everything started going down hill for them. Adler and Stradlin had already dropped out of the band or been fired. Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke were their replacements which worked out fine until The Spaghetti Incident was released in -93.

Today I found an old clip from this night in MTV history that I haven't seen before. It shows how Guns N Roses wins an award and their acceptance speech. Quite fun to watch :) For those of you who wants to see their performance in much better quality can check out the video below!

4th October - Animal's Day

The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham

Something that I haven't talked about a lot in this blog is my dedication to animal's rights. I have avoided this subject because I wanted this to first and foremost be a place to read about rock music. And also, I can talk about this subject for hours and hours so you guys would probably be pretty bored with me after a while. Even though I can't understand why you'd be bored, since it's such an interesting subject ;) ......to me......

But today is the Animal’s Day and therefore I would like to highlight certain things. I have never regretted my decision to become a vegetarian. I will never ever stop fighting for animal’s rights. As long as there are cats and dogs being burned alive in Ukraine, as long as there are pigs and cows being slaughtered under horrible circumstances in Sweden and as long as animals remain loyal to me… I will remain loyal to them. They haven’t let me down so far.

I see it as one of my main goals in life to speak for the animal's and to make people see the alternatives that they have. You don't have to stop eating meat. Just make sure to look up facts about the meat industry. It's not that hard to figure out where good meat and bad meat comes from! I can even help you find some good meat right now... here you go: http://www.gronahagarskott.se/
Sure it's more expensive than the meat that comes from your local grocery store (bad meat). But the more people who buys it, the faster we will lower the price on so called good meat. Because the meat industry will lose money. When no one buys it then there's suddenly no reason to slaughter the animals no more! At least not in the inhuman way that they are doing it now.

To make the circle complete, I'd also like to point out how incredibly important it is that we take care of our beautiful nature. I just saw an interview with the actor Ian Somerhalder who runs the IS foundation that aims to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures. He said something that I always tell the kids at kindergarten whenever they are damaging trees by ripping twigs away.

"Trees are our lungs. They take carbon out of the air and they turn it into oxygen. These are our best friends in the world. Why we wouldn’t want them everywhere is beyond me…"

The magic of demos

Every artist/musician spend their lives looking for the perfect band. The band that is going to give them lifelong friends and fame. But before they find THAT band they have to go through some line-ups that aren't 100% right. Just as with friends, they sometimes have something to learn or to gain from each other. Maybe they even have some success and creates a fan base that can spread the word about them, even after the band breaks up. Some of the members stick together, while others continue to search for the perfect match alone.
As a fan I think it's fun to know an artists history to understand what lead them up to this moment. How much they have developed and why they made the choices that they did.

Foxey was a shortlived rock band that turned out to have several upcoming stars in its line-up. "Wildcat Woman" and "Toys for boys" are two great demos from 2006 that would have sounded even better if they were recorded in a studio. But it doesn't matter because these songs were just a part of what these guys had waiting for them in the future (Crashdïet/Jailbait/Dynazty). That's the magic of demos.

Pink tells it like it is

Girls, women, ladies... how often have ya'll had to put up with guys grabbing your asses when you're out on clubs? We're talking creepy guys who thinks they can intrude on your personal space without permission. It has happened to me too many times and I'm sick of it. It's one thing if you've been flirting with a guy all night and want to be close to him. And it's another thing if you just pass by a guy at the bar without even looking at him. But there are some sick bastards out there who has a hard time understanding this simple difference. Just because we like to dress up and dance our asses off, it doesn't give them the right to harass us. I truly don't think those guys realises just HOW offensive it is to be treated this way. When a guy passes me by and touches me inappropriately I am often caught of guard and can just real quick push his hand away. Then I just move along because I'm so surprised and confused by all the people moving around me in the spotlight. But then the emotional roller coaster starts, where you feel disgusted. Like you are being treated like a thing instead of a human being. Like you're just anyone's property. You want to turn around and tell that guy off but it's too late. And you're wondering if it would even make a difference if you found him, because maybe he's so drunk that he won't remember this tomorrow morning. But you will.

At the bar, six shots, just beginnin'
That's when dickhead put his hands on me, but you see
I'm not here for your entertainment
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life

You're in the corner with your boys, you bet 'em five bucks
You'd get the girl that just walked in but she thinks you suck
We didn't get all dressed up just for you to see
So quit spillin' your drinks on me

Listen up it's just not happenin'
You can say what you want to your boyfriends
Just let me have my fun tonight, a'ight?

Ate a whole lot of mushrooms today

Although this birthday wasn't the best, I did get to see who my true friends are. And some of my friends do feel like a second family to me. They are people who I talk to every single day and share my every day life with, no matter what side of the planet they live on. And that means more to me then a screwed up dinner party.

The food was crazy delicious though ;) haha...

Last week the candle factory burned down. Everyone just stood around and sang "Happy Birthday".

I'm 21 years old! One day older than what I was the day before. Just like every other day! It's fun though because 21 is one of those years you hear are going to be great. But I still have some anxiety about celebrating my birthday since I don't want my one year as a 21 year old to end....did you guys follow me there?

I did try to have a good time though so I started celebrating last night. I went to Sigurdsgatan 25 with Kiki and Axel to see the Gilby Clarke gig. Ryan was there too so he played some songs with the band and the crowd loved it, even though there wasn't that many people there. I had a good time and it was just nice to get out, have a few drinks and hang out with my friends! I got a drink named after me too, haha! The girl in the bar didn't have any orange juice so she couldn't make me a Screwdriver. So I told her to give me anything with vodka in it. She mixed some things together and voilá.... we have a 'Carro' ;) It tastes like candy, hahaha...

So today when I woke up I was in a very good mood. My birthday had started out great (I got home after midnight...) and I made myself ready to go to Malmköping. My grandma turned 90 years old recently so we planned on celebrating her, but we always celebrate our birthdays together so I assumed that was what we were going to do. After all, it IS my birthday today! But the afternoon turned out to be one big disapointment. I don't care about presents, but when my name isn't even written on the birthday cake then something is wrong. Only my grandma's name was on there. I understand that her birthday was much more important than mine this year, but not even getting my name written on the cake!? Thanx a lot...
And on our way home I was told by my family that my relatives hadn't even wanted to celebrate my birthday at all. So why the hell was I there for!? Why couldn't we have had this dinner party some other weekend? Why did I have to spend my birthday feeling unwanted, when I could have been out partying my ass off with people who actually cares about me!?

It wasn't all bad though. From my family I got a gift certificate for a hot stone massage, Lord knows I need some relaxation. My grandma and other grandmother gave me money, that's always much needed! But the best gift I got was from my 90 year old grandma when she stood up in the middle of the dinner and asked if everyone would join her in singing Happy Birthday to me. Half of my relatives had looked at my father with surprised faces when he said it was my birthday today, like they hadn't even thought about it. And that was when my grandma did this. To show me that I mattered to her even though the others acted like I didn't. Let me just tell you that my grandma cried on the way home because she was in so much pain after moving around so much during the dinner party. And she still did this for me. That's love.

Happy Birthday to me...
