Man of 10,000 sound effects

Remember "Police academy"? I used to watch those hilarious movies every time they were aired on TV, which was often here in Sweden! :P
Each character had a quirky and unique personality. One of the audience's favourite characters was Larvell, better known as Jones. He was the guy who could do crazy sound effects with his voice, you could hardly believe it was him doing them (they must have added those sound effects afterwards, right?). The actor Michael Winslow is 53 years old today and is still extremly popular for his rare talent. Recently he was a guest on "Senkveld" and performed the Led Zeppelin song "Whole lotta love" with an electric guitar. The only question is.... where is the elecric guitar!?

This is a rebel love song

Finally the music video for "Rebel Love Song" is out! It's not exactly my favourite Black Veil Brides video ever made (I guess I'll have to write a blog post about this band sometime) but the song kicks so much ass...
I have loved it for months now and I kind of pictured the video to be like this. But with more rebellious energy. I think the feeling of freedom and doing whatever the hell you want is pretty weak. But since this band has several other videos I adore, I forgive them ;) The only one I'm not very fond of is "Knives and Pens". But more on that some other time!

BlackRain unplugged

It's been raining all day long, but the good news is that I've bought some new winter clothes that I freaking love. Came home looking like a drowned rat though. Why do we even say that btw? I looked like me, not a rat. But I was soaking wet, that's for sure. Anyways, to finish this day off I would like to share some videos with you guys. As you know I am a fan of the french rock band BlackRain. Earlier this year they did an unplugged tour in their home country and there are plenty of videos from that tour on YouTube.

"Addicted to failure" is one of my top favourite songs. It doesn't matter if I listen to the record version or the acoustic version. I guess it means a lot to me because I recongnize myself so much in the lyrics. The feeling of hopelessness when you're depressed and lonely. Luckily I don't suffer from chronic depression no more, but it can come and go depending on what's going on in my life. My biggest problem now is that I put too much pressure on myself to be succesful. Not when it comes to school or stuff like that, but in my personal life. It's important to not lose yourself in the attempt to live up to your dreams. But sometimes I do forget what I really should be focusing on and that is when I can relate to this song the most...

'Lunacy is no longer a feeling'...

This is the second video from a gig in March. Here we get to see a collection of my favourite BlackRain songs. After playing "Addicted to failure" they move on to "Shining down on you" which is a pretty calm song. It can seem boring to begin with, but the raw chorus convinces you to keep listening. It took me some time to like it but now I can't get it out of my head! The video ends with "She's in love" which is a more upbeat song with a pop/rock sound. I truly can't wait to hear some of these tracks live when I go to Paris in December. I have a feeling it'll be one hell of an evening.

Yes, Michael Jackson was indeed called The King of Pop but he did release several rock songs as well. I for one was amazed by his raw voice in "Dirty Diana". That song is hot, sexy, mysterious and all about the electric guitar. But one of my all time favourite MJ songs is "Give in to me". It's not as famous as many of his other songs, but I think it's an awesome ballad. And it doesn't hurt that Slash was involved in it!

I'm a total sucker for that wind - smoke - thing that Michael always had on stage ;)

Just saw Sebastian Bach, one of the greatest rock legends there is, singing "Små grodorna"... (a Swedish children's song). I'll never be able to look at this guy in the same way as before :P

The rock n´ roll safe zone

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Joan Jett hadn't become famous. Or to be specific, if The Runaways hadn't become famous. Who would have been the first influences for girls to be rebellious and embrace the rock n´ roll lifestyle? Many had probably done it already when The Runaways got famous. But many was probably also scared to show it. Just like today. But now we have so many role models to give us the courage to step out of that safe zone. Imagine not having that.
